Krista M. Schonberg

October 1980 - August 2011

Krista Marie Schonberg

The Annual KMS Golf Tourna-Mint! is held to honor the memory of Krista M. Schonberg, a beautiful, bright young woman who left this world too soon. Krista grew to love golf in the eight years she worked at Highfields Golf & Country Club, where she was referred to by members as "Sunshine" because of the way she could light up the room with her bubbly smile.

Krista could frequently be found spending her free time on the course. So, a memorial golf tournament seemed a fitting way to commemorate the first anniversary of her passing. Facebook Friends are familiar with her affinity for combining two words to make up new words for her "dictasaurus"...favorites include:

    • Seussalicious: an adjective describing something that's so deliciously silly - like straight out of a Dr. Seuss story (one of her favorite authors)
    • Fantabulous: an adjective to describe something so wonderful that neither fantastic or fabulous will do
    • Relaxitivity - a verb for slowly, actively getting things done at a relaxing pace
    • Phenominaltagious - as in "feeling pretty phenominaltagious today! yah, its totally catchy!"

We called the event a "Tourna-Mint!" because a golf tournament is always fun, but this one will be exceptional (that's "totally mint!" in New England-speak).

Krista was a vibrant, active and independent person who lived life to the fullest. She had a talent for making every day events special occasions. Above all, Krista was a kind, caring and generous person who made all our lives brighter with her brilliant smile and bubbly personality. We will always remember all the wonderful things that made her special.

Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best.

Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
