Niiche blogs are blogs that are focused on one topic.

This is what Wikipedia says about niche blogging:
Niche blogging is the act of creating a blog with the intent of using it to market to a particular niche market. While it could be argued that all blogs are, in some form, a niche blog, the term as it applies to marketing refers to a particular kind of blog.

Choosing a Niche

You really need to have a passion for the domain you choose and you need to know it very well. Think from the beggining how popular the subject is, what target will you have, what competition exists, how will you monetize your blog.

The way you choose your site name

It must be original, not to be confused with other blogs (popular) from the same niche.
A few basic things that you need to know

  • If you want a professinal blog you’ll need to have your own domain name & give your money on a good hosting;
  • Constantly publish articles: depending on the niche you choose, pitch a number of articles you’ll post per day or per week and don’t break it. Be careful not to make long breaks, always have a few drafts saved which you’ll publish or complete when you need;
  • Good writing skills, easy to follow;
  • Visual identity: make a good-looking logo, theme, business cards;
  • Don’t optimize your blog in excess: SEO SPAM IS BAD! You could read WordPress SEO - 6 basic tips for better SEO if you want to learn how to optimize your blog.
  • Don’t hide your contact form, you need to be easily contacted;
  • Always have a few banners in your hand, ready to be sent;
  • Install plugins which will fit your niche. (ex: Community links feed)

First of all, you need to have quality articles, because content will always be the most important! Come with something new: exclusiv news, the speed you publish information, the way you present the information (ex: Opinions from your own experience).

Follow your competition: other blogs and websites from the same niche, the more they are the better it is. Find their weak points & their strong points. Learn from others mistakes, use their experience to your advantage, think how can you be a step in front of them. NEVER take material/information/ideas without asking or without crediting them!

Search for forums related to the niche you’ve chosen. Register on the most active ones, follow the discussions, socialize, post constantly, contribute with new and interesting information. DON’T spam! Don’t register on forums only to promote your blog, it’s not nice. You’ll probably be banned.

Search for people that are interested in your niche on other blogs or websites (through articles or comments), on forums, on social networks (ex: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter). You can invite them, if they have experience or if they have something interesting to say, to write a guest post.

Read magazines and newspapers related to your niche. You never know where some new ideas come from, ideas that you can adapt to online. Contact the press to suggest a collaboration between your blog and the publications. It’s not hard at all to contact them at press conferences or to search for their e-mail or phone numbers. Explain them who you are and ask them to put you in contact with someone that is taking care of your niche. Of course, do this only when you come with something relevant, new, which will attract attention. After you get in contact with them you could suggest:

  • Write a few words about your blog;
  • If you are expert in a domain or you constantly come with new materials, they could credit/cite you in articles;
  • You could offer to have a rubric in their pages (or websites), regardless of the size. In exchange, you could offer ads on your blog.

If there are events related to the niche of your blog and you can go, my advice is don’t stay home! You could be a media partner and promote that event, to request in exchange ads on the flyer/website of the event/in the press releases related to that event (logo/banner/URL).

Do you blog? If not, you are missing out on a booming business, not to mention the latest fad on the Internet. Everyone is blogging these days – your Grandmother is probably blogging if she has a computer!

Blogging isn’t just fun, it is a business that has really taken off. In fact, many people are making full time livings simply by blogging each and every day. Don’t you wish you could spend thirty minutes or so a day writing an entry for your blog and then go do the things you really enjoy in life? You can if you learn how niche blogging works.

There is blogging – and there is niche blogging. Niche blogging is where the money is. Here is how it works: You do some research to find out what is popular these days. You set up a blog. You find affiliate products for your blog. You write an entry each day. You market your blog. You collect the money. Sounds simple, right?

Well, once you get the hang of it, it is simple – but starting out takes a little more work, and a lot more thought – starting with the research that you need to do. What will your niche be? There are millions of people blogging about millions of topics. The more unique your topic can be the better you will do. Even if you can’t choose a unique topic, the way you blog, or the information you put on your blog should be unique so you can compete with the other bloggers in your niche.

That part isn’t so simple – finding your niche. Start by finding out what the most popular keyword searches are in the search engines. Do a search for those keywords using RSS feed software or using a search engine – type in the keyword followed by the word blog or RSS. How many people are blogging? If the keywords are popular, there are probably hundreds or thousands of blogs in that niche already. Can you use any of those keywords and create a unique blog? If so, go for it…if not, keep searching.

Think about your own interests. If you are interested in a particular hobby or topic, the chances are good that thousands or even millions of other people are. What is your favorite reality television show? People blog about Survivor, and some of those blogs have a huge following. This goes to show you that even if you do choose a topic that many people are blogging about, you can still make it unique enough to become quite popular.

Setting up your blog is simple. You can get your own webhosting account that includes blogging scripts. These are simple to install, and usually only takes a few clicks of the mouse from the webhosting control panel. You need your own domain name, which can be ordered when you order your hosting account in most cases. However, if you are not tech savvy, you may need to hire someone to do a little tweaking for you. Basically, you need to choose the colors that you want to use for your blog pages and put your affiliate ads on templates. Again, if you don’t know how to do this, you can easily – and cheaply – hire someone to do this for you through a site such as Rent-A-Coder at http://www.rentacoder.com

Finally, you are ready to start blogging and marketing your blog. Learning to market a blog also takes a little work. Now, jump on the blogging bandwagon and start earning some money!

Okay, you have a website that is up and ready for action, but what comes next? That’s easy, you need to start getting your online site to generate money and you can do this by blogging. There are a number of ways to turn blogging into dollars and you can soon discover how to make money blogging from your home computer. Check out the programs offered by Clickbank, Amazon, Ebay and AdSense and you will see how easy it is to bang out bucks by blogging online.

If you want to maximize your income and minimize your effort then you need to connect multiple sites among a number of different niche markets. These sites can pay off some great dividends for you in just a short amount of time. For example if you have 30 sites and each of these manages to pull in $2 a day then you have a nice little income of $1800 a month. Even if your sites only grab you a single $1 a day, that is still $900 a month for doing what? Blogging, that’s what.

50 sites earning $2 each per day will generate $3000 per month in income and this is nothing to be sneezed at. This total does not even count any of the income that is being earned through the affiliate links that you are connected with. Sites that are promoting other affiliate links through Adsense or Clickbank are likely earning even more income than the $1-2 per day that we are using in these examples. If you can get 30 sites to generate just $5 each per day that means you have $150 coming into your bank account on a daily basis which equals $1050 a week or more than $52K per year. Is blogging beginning to look better by the moment? You better believe it. Think of what you could do with this kind of additional pocket change.

Ok, sure it looks good, but maybe you are still concerned about trying to get 30-50 sites up and running. Not only that, you have to maintain them, so just how much work is that? I hear what you are saying, but you can get some software programs now that let you build your sites in a few easy steps and the rest is just automatic so all you have to do is ”set and forget”. Besides, once these sites start depositing big bucks into your checking account you can pay someone to do the grunt work for you.

If you aren’t niche blogging, you are missing out on a booming business, not to mention the latest trend in Internet marketing. Everyone is niche blogging these days - even your Grandparents are probably blogging if they have a computer!

While niche blogging is fun, it is also a business that has really taken off. It is possible, and many people are in fact, making a full-time living simply by blogging each and every day. Don””t you wish you could spend thirty minutes or so a day writing an entry for your niche blog and then go do the things you really enjoy in life? You can if you learn how niche blogging works.

There is blogging - and there is niche blogging. Niche blogging is the most profitable form of blogging. Here is how it works: First, You do some keyword research to find out what the popular trends are. You set up a niche blog and then find affiliate products to promote on your niche blog. It’s best to write fresh content daily. In addition to writing content for your niche blog, you need to market your niche blog. Then you sit back and collect the money. Sounds simple, right?

Well, once you get the hang of it, it is simple - but starting out takes a little more work, and a lot more thought - starting with the keyword research that you need to do. What niche will be profitable for you? With millions of people blogging about literally, millions of topics, the more unique your topic is, the better you will do. Even if your topic isn’t unique, your content should be unique so you can compete with the other bloggers in your niche.

That part isn’t so simple - finding your niche. Start by finding out what the most popular keyword searches are in the search engines. Do a search for those keywords using RSS feed software or using a search engine - type in the keyword followed by the word blog or RSS. How many people are blogging? If the keywords are popular, there are probably hundreds or thousands of blogs in that niche already. Can you use any of those keywords and create a unique blog? If so, go for it, if not, keep searching.

What is your favorite reality television show? People blog about Survivor, and some of those blogs have a huge following. This goes to show you that even if you do choose a topic that many people are blogging about, you can still make it unique enough to become quite popular.

Other ways to find popular and potentially profitable niches is uses Google Hot Trends to see what people are searching for. Twitter also has it’s own “Trending Topics” and is a good way to find out what is hot and being talked about.

Setting up your niche blog is simple. First you need to choose a domain. Choose your domain carefully and try to get a domain that includes your main keywords. Get a webhosting account, with cpanel and Fantastico, and install a Wordpress blog using Fantastico - literally takes a couple of minutes. Wordpress is my favorite blogging platform. You want to avoid using blogging servers that host your blog. You can lose months of work hosting on a blog server if they decide to delete your blog.

Next you need to choose an attractive Wordpress theme. There are themes to choose from, both premium commercial themes and free themes. Once your theme is installed, you need to add your Adsense and ads for the products you are going to promote.

Now you’re ready to start your niche blogging career, so jump on the niche blogging bandwagon and start earning some money!

Then you can drag one of the bookmark tools to your browser and when on a page you want to bookmark just click the OnlyWire bookmark tool to save it to all the sites you saved on your OnlyWire account. This will can you a good bit of time depending on how many sites you usually bookmark.

But what if your WordPress blog did that for you as well? Now it can with Onlywire Autosubmit - A WordPress Plugin.

Download the Onlywire Autosubmit Plugin, unzip it and install it like any normal plugin, by uploading it to your wp-content/plugins folder. Or if you have the One Click Install plugin just upload the whole zip file from the dashboard. Go to Plugin and activate the Only Wire Autosubmitter plugin. Then go to Options, OnlyWire Options and save your OnlyWire username and password.

This was the first post I have written after installing it. After publishing the post I checked a few of my bookmarking sites and sure enough this post was in there. You can also check the status in the WordPress dashboard by going to Options, OnlyWire Options.

Installation Instructions

These instructions are for hosting with cpanel. If you have any problems installing with these instructions, there are many sites that give instructions. Just go here: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=how+to+move+blog+to+new+domain+host&aq=o&oq=&aqi=&fp=Xmf0jJ9P_V0

Unzip the zip file to your hard drive and keep as a site backup.

Then upload the zip file to the root directory of your domain/host

Go to the File Manager and checkmark the zip file and extract it.

Then in cpanel, go to MySQL and create a new database for this blog. Create a user and then add that user to the database with all permissions. Remember the full database name, the database user name and the user password (ie, if you create a database named weddings, the full database name will be YourCpanelUserName_weddings … same with the user – if you create a user named sarah, your user name for the wp-config.php file will be YourCpanelUserName_sarah. You will need this for your wp-config.php file.

The following is a visual instructions for making the database changes.

Go to http://domainingdiva.com/database.jpg

In the database, you also need to change the upload path to yours. Click on the database name in the left panel and then click on Search. Select all and type in public_html for the search. It should come up with a couple of entries in wp_options. Click on the one that says upload path and open it.

Go to http://domainingdiva.com/database2.jpg

One final change to the database is to change the user password to what you want.

Go to http://domainingdiva.com/database3.jpg

Now with the database done and the files extracted, all you need to do is to download the wp-config.php file in your root directory and change the info to your database, database user, and database password info.

Go to http://domainingdiva.com/config.jpg

After you log in to the Wordpress Admin, go to Settings > General > and at the top there are two places where the site url is … make sure they both point to your domain.

Download the Search and Replace plugin from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search-and-replace/

Upload the plugin to your plugin directory and activate it. Then go to settings and choose Search and Replace. Select all and in the Search for box, put the old domain, which will be the url of the demo site and in the Replace With box, put your domain. Leave off the http://www. Just put the domain in like nichebloggingtreasure.com. Then submit. This will change all the urls in posts that point to the old domain.

Changing the ads and theme instructions

Go to http://domainingdiva.com/gazette.html

Note: It is better to do this with an ftp program like Filezilla and an html editor like Dreamweaver or whatever you use. Doing it from the Wordpress backend, often causes error messages, due to the customization of the theme.

In addition to the ads found in the Gazette Theme Options located in your Wordpress admin panel, via an ftp program like Filezilla, go to wp-content > themes > gazette > ads and download the ads-300×250.php file. Replace the two instances of the Adsense script in this file with your own 300×250 Adsense ad in the same color scheme as shown on the demo site. Upload the file.

Download the sidebar.php file in your Gazette Theme folder and edit the path of the ebook image. You could also add additional ads here if desired.

Then download the singlepost.php file in your Gazette Theme folder

Replace the Adsense in there with your own 468×60 Adsense in the same color as shown on demo site.

If your site has an Amazon Store or Amazon Bookstore, it will be located in the Wordpress backend admin in Pages > Edit

Just replace the existing code with your own Amazon widget or store.

The Forum

If your site comes with a forum, and you do not want the forum, just go to

wp-content > themes > gazette

and download the header.php file

Close to the bottom of the file, you will see the url for the forum.

Delete the url, but do not delete the <li> </li> code surrounding it and then upload the header file to the same directory.

If you want the forum, I find it easier to install it from scratch than to try to change it to your domain.

In phpMyAdmin, go to the sites’ database.

Drop all the tables that begin with bb

Go to bbpress.org and download the forum zip file

Follow the install instructions on bbpress.org

It will create a folder called bbpress … after installation, change the folder name to forum

Then download the Revolution BBPress theme here:

http://www.revolutiontheme.com/magazine/bbpress/download.zip

Unzip and upload to the Revolution theme to the bbpress template directory located inside the forum folder.

Then go to yourdomain.com/forum

And follow the onscreen instructions.

To Replace the Ads

Some of the ads, the 125×125 ads on the sidebar are in the Gazette Theme Options in the Wordpress Admin.

In addition, there are Adsense ads to change. Go to wp-content > Themes > Gazette > Ads and download the ads-300×250.php file. This is the file that has the 300×250 Adsense ad. There are two places in the file that you need to replace the Adsense ad with yours. After editing, reupload to same directory.

Then go to wp-content > themes > gazette and download the singlepost.php file.

In this file, there will be a 468×60 Adsense ad. Replace it with yours and reupload.

The ebook or opt-in image are in the sidebar.php file in wp-content > themes > gazette

Download it and edit if needed. If opt-in graphic is used, link it to your autoresponder or mailing list. If ebook is used, it is probably already linked to an ebook sales page and you will need to link your own paypal button to the order button to get paid for selling the ebook.

When you have an online blog you need to keep it updated frequently to maintain reader interest. This needs to be done at least every other day, and ideally it should be updated daily. You need to make sure that you set aside some time for this housekeeping task.

Of course if you are limited to only certain times that you can devote to writing then you can prepare some updates ahead of time. Just use your writing time to create extra blogs that you can post during the week. Everyone with a new blog is worried about generating high interest and being able to direct traffic to their sites, but you have to have a good amount of online content before this becomes your problem. What it all boils down to is that you should work hard to get your blogs live and online so that you can really get that traffic moving in the direction that you want.

Choosing the niche for your blog should have been based on something that you really enjoy, or something that you have experience with. This makes writing the content for your blogs something that is fun and easy to do.

There will always be some type of PLR material that is free for you to use when you are creating your blog posts. These articles may not be of the quality that you prefer but you can glean some useful ideas and information from them. Besides, who said that each of your postings needed to be a masterpiece in order to be successful? What you are really looking to do is to pass along some interesting ideas and maybe a bit of useful information. You can stress yourself out in search of perfection, but it really is not as important as you might think. Something fun, interesting and easy to read will always come out on top in the blog ratings.

When you begin to start seeing some success, you can contract with others to do some of the writing for you. This is very helpful for people that really don’t like writing in the first place. Check out listings on NAA, forums, Elance and other freelance sites for people that will write material for you to use for very competitive prices. You can even read samples that these writers have created in the past so that you can judge their talent and abilities before hiring them.

When you are have created your website you probably feel as proud as a new parent. After all you have just watched the birth of your own idea and now it’s time for the first few toddling steps. Driving the traffic to your blog is next on the agenda and this is a crucial step to ensuring the success of your site. You have to hook the public with your content and ideas. You may have decided on a self-hosted site, or perhaps you opted to use WordPress or Blogger. The platform you choose really won’t matter that much, as far as generating traffic goes, because there are some specific guidelines that are always going to be used to bring the traffic to your blogging doorstep.

The majority of bloggers will know that SEO is critical when it comes to getting the exposure and online visibility that is necessary to succeed. After all the basic reason a blog exists is to attract readers and generate customers. Search engine optimization can not be ignored and there are some great resources for you to use to help you get your online blog off to a blazing hot start.

When you are first getting interest generated about a blog you can count on Squidoo and Hubpages to give you a hand. This gives you a place to create your own lenses and hubs that deal with your particular blog niche. Once you have taken this step it is easy to create the links to your blog site with either the direct link connections or by using the RSS feed. These link modules are available on both Squidoo and Hubpages.

Do not overlook the help that other blogs can give you. If you leave some comments on a number of closely related blog sites it can mean a big boost to your own traffic. Make your comments informative, even if they are not very lengthy. A one or two word comment will not catch the eye of anyone, but a more relevant remark can provoke interest from a number of readers. Avoid using those overworked, repetitive comments that pop up so frequently because they are not being read by anyone. In other words, be at least a little creative in your posting.

For successful traffic you need to take advantage of the benefits that you can gain when you use social bookmarking. It will probably work to your advantage to be a little choosy and begin by bookmarking a limited number of these sites with your posts. If you cast your net too wide it will come across as SPAM, which is a definite no-no. Reddit and Stumble Upon are a couple of prime places to begin your bookmarking tactics. In addition to the limited posts, make sure that you bookmark for others because this will make it seem that you are really part of the social network and not circling the community like a shark in the ocean.

You can also reap some rewards for your blogging efforts by connecting with the social networking sites that are currently in high demand. Facebook and Twitter are two good choices to focus your efforts on. Remember that you need to keep your niche in the forefront of your mind as you build a profile and start creating your own interconnected community. Once more you need to keep communication as important as your task of creating links to your own site and products.

Forums with related ideas and information can help you gain exposure and create a familiarity with the public. The more familiar your name and site becomes the more likely people will want to do business with you. To get your name moved to the top of the list in your niche markets try searching Google by typing in “the name of your niche + forum”. This should provide you with the target listings that you will need to begin this plan of attack.

What you want to do is to use these methods to build trust and familiarity with a large network of people on the Internet. This will help you create friendships and generate some much needed exposure online. As people begin to feel comfortable with your name and site, it will make them more inclined to purchase products from you, which is good for your online business.
